On July 20, 2021, Belarusian State Academy of Aviation began its admission campaign. This means that those applicants, who have made their choice in favor of BSAA, submit documents to become cadets in the future.
Given the epidemiological situation, the academy has created conditions for the safe conduct of the admission campaign. So, pre-registration is open with the choice of the exact time, only one person can accompany the applicant, and at the entrance everyone undergoes thermometry test.
The applicants who came to apply among the first, received from the hands of the Secretary of the Admissions Committee Marina Litvina symbolic gifts with pictures of BSAA. And we, in turn, talked to the guys to know more about them and their choice.
The first applicant for both the Academy and our interview was Pankevich Pavel:
- In general, I follow the science and development of technologies. And I enter the specialty "unmanned aircraft systems", because I think this is what the future holds. I found out about the Academy through a friend who is studying to be an engineer. He spoke well of the Academy, so I looked at the specialties and liked them. I decided, why not.
Female applicants also come to the Academy of aviation. One of such applicants is Vlada Nelipovich, who enters the specialty “Technical maintenance of Aircraft Equipment (Instrument and Electric Light and Technical Equipment) ":
- How did you find out about the Academy?
- It began with the fact that I basically became interested in aviation, in aircraft, since childhood. In general, I used to think that in the Republic of Belarus there are no educational establishments that train aviation specialists, but I found out on the Internet that there is one suchestablishment - and it is the Academy of aviation.
- Did you visit the Academy for the Open Doors Day?
- Yes, I went twice this spring. I had a very good impression, I liked the way, how everything was explained, I talked to the dean. Good atmosphere, liked the way everything was decorated in blue, which is my favorite color.
- How was held the preparation for admission?
- Tutoring and additional classes at school. Besides, I studied in a specialized class in mathematics.
- By the way, in 2020 the Academy opened an aviation class at the state educational establishment "Secondary School № 46 of Minsk”. If you had such an opportunity when you were at school, would you have chosen an aviation class?
- Of course, yes. Undoubtedly (smiling).
Simonovich Vladislav is going to join the ranks of aircraft and engine maintenance engineers. About his choice he says so:
- Of course, many people dream of becoming pilots. But I decided that pilots need help, and I chose this specialty. This is more interesting to me.
Since childhood, I followed my dream - to be closer to the sky. And I decided that I would purposely go to the Academy of aviation, to follow my dream. I’ve already took a small step towards it - I applied for it. I arrived with a full folder and a quiet soul, ready to give it my all (smiling).
- At the Academy of aviation cadets have an active scientific, cultural and sports life... Which of them do you like most of all?
- I am a multifaceted person, I am realized in different spheres. But at the moment probably the sporting sphere appeals to me most of all. Because I regularly participate in various tournaments, including football. It's also cultural: in gymnasium I was a major theatrical performer in various productions, and I was also in good standing in the city. So I think that the Academy will give me many opportunities to realize myself both theatrically and athletically. And not to forget my studies (smiling).
This year at the Academy is under recruitment a completely new specialty - "Flight Maintenance of Civil Aviation Aircraft". Caratay Ivan, who plans to become an engineer-pilot, also told us about his professional self-determination:
- What criteria did you use when choosing your future profession?
- A lot of. First of all, health - it has to be maintained at a high level during work. Prestige of the profession, skills, which I would get as a result of mastering the profession (for example, mastering aviation-technical English). Well, the salary also did not play the last role.
In addition, there are relatives who have worked or are working in aviation. When I even touched a little bit of this subject, they said: "Go, you will not regret. Here, I haven't regretted anywhere so far (smiling).
In fact, becoming a pilot is even like a challenge to yourself. Because you have to pass the health screening, cope with the test in physical education and generally pass the competition - I think the scores will not be low.
- Are you afraid of the competition?
- No, I'm ready for it. If I do not get in, I will go to another specialty - either "Traffic Organization and ensuring of flights on air transport" or engineering specialties.
- How did you prepare for admission?
- Courses, tutors. I started to prepare English in two years, and the other subjects in a year. In principle, I am mostly satisfied with the results.
- How did your parents react to your choice?
- My parents, like all my relatives, reacted positively. Only my grandmother worries a little, she thinks it is a dangerous profession. But that's my grandmother (smiling). And so all of them are happy.
- Where do you see yourself in 10 years, if you enter the chosen profession?
- Of course, as a pilot. Flying passenger or cargo aircraft. With passenger transportation, it's also the responsibility for three hundred people you're carrying with you... So maybe I'll choose air cargo transportation. But in principle, a civil aviation line pilot is fine, too.
After talking with applicants, at the end of the first day we asked the secretary of the admission committee Igor Fedorinchik about the impressions of the beginning of the admission campaign:
- The first day is intense. This day is traditionally have a lot of applicants, you have to work in this mode "almost without a break," somewhere to find time to rest, snack ... - And then Igor Fedorinchik apologizes and leaves to go to his office, where they are waiting for him on a work-related issue. That in itself clearly demonstrates the atmosphere. Such was the first day, and such were the applicants of the first day.
