Belarusian State Academy of Aviation (BSAA) the only education establishment for training specialists in the field of civil aviation in the territory of the Republic of Belarus since 1974. Today BSAA has the next structure:

  • The Faculty of Civil Aviation;
  • The Military Faculty;
  • The Department of Secondary Specialized Education.

The Faculty of Civil Aviation (FCA) is the largest structural unit of the Academy, established in 2007. The Faculty has prepared thousands of specialists, without which it’s impossible to imagine civil aviation not only in our country, but also abroad. Educational and material-science backgrounds, pedagogical resources, modern information technologies, learning English are encourage the effective mastering of the profession. Our faculty graduates are able to ensure a secure work of air transport.

The Faculty of Civil Aviation is actively cooperating with other civil aviation enterprises of the Republic of Belarus, such as “Belavia”, “Transaviaexport”; has leading position in the sphere of preparation of aviation specialists for “Belaeronavigation’’company, Ministry of Transport and Communication, Department of Aviation, Aviation State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus. Furthermore, the Faculty maintains contacts with Aviation Faculty of the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus, BNTU, BSU, BSUIR and other universities.

High quality of education enhances international relations of FCA. At the Faculty are trained students from the CIS and other foreign countries such as Turkmenistan, the Republic of Tajikistan, Yemen, Congo, Israel, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Moldova, Venezuela, Russian Federation and etc.

1 – 37 04 01 «Technical Maintenance of Aircraft and Engines »

Qualification: Engineer

Graduates of this specialty are trained to work for:

  • enterprises, establishments and organizations engaged in maintenance and technical activities and performing technical maintenance and repair of aircraft and engines;
  • enterprises, establishments and organizations engaged in production and technological activities and performing the development and production of aircraft and engines;
  • enterprises, establishments and organizations engaged in organizational and managerial activities in the technical maintenance, development, production and repair of aircraft and engines.

Work objects of the specialist are:

  • aircraft and engines;
  • technological processes providing technical maintenance, development, production and repair of aircraft and engines.

Graduates of this specialty are prepared to perform the following professional functions:

  • organization and implementation of operation, technical maintenance and repair of aircraft and engines in accordance with the requirements of  operational and repair documentation;
  • carrying out analysis of malfunction, determining the causes of failures of aircraft, carrying out of fault detection and replacement of units;
  • using of diagnostic equipment, ground handling equipment and tools for maintenance and repair of aircraft;
  • ensuring the safety of maintenance and repair of aircraft and engines, monitoring compliance with the rules of labor protection and the environment, labor safety and fire protection;
  • using automated control system of technical maintenance of aircraft and engines;
  • quality control of operations, maintenance and repair of technological equipment;
  • selection of fuels and lubricants (fuels and oils, greases and special liquids) used on aircraft;
  • keeping records of the consumption of operational materials in the performance of maintenance and repair of aircraft and engines;
  • execution of calculations required for preparation of applications for materials, spare parts and tools and preparation of necessary reports;
  • selection of ground equipment types for maintenance of aircraft and engines;
  • using of emergency means in necessary cases.

1 – 37 04 02 – 01 «Technical Maintenance of Aircraft Equipment (Instrument, Electric, Light and Technical Equipment) »

Qualification: Engineer

Graduates of this specialty are trained to work for:

  • enterprises, establishments and organizations engaged in technical maintenance, development, production and repair of aircraft equipment;
  • aviation centers of industrial, commercial and agricultural enterprises;
  • design, research institutions, repair, production, commercial and educational establishments related to aviation equipment.

Work objects of the specialist are:

  • Instrument equipment of aircraft;
  • Electric, light and technical equipment of airport;

Graduates of this specialty are prepared to perform the following professional functions:

  • take part in the implementation of  necessary technical calculations and simple schemes of instrument and electric, light and technical equipment;
  • service and repair of instrument and electric, light and technical equipment and system;
  • make adjustment, set up and check of the equipment in laboratory conditions;
  • carrying out technical maintenance of instrument and electric, light and technical equipment and systems, search and elimination of defects in their work, the account and the analysis of failures, to carry out actions for increase of reliability of the equipment according to the existing standards and normative legal acts;
  • register the necessary characteristics and parameters, to process the results;
  • justify the economic efficiency of the introduction of new equipment, technology and innovation proposals;
  • perform works on dismantling and utilization of decommissioned instrument and electric, light and technical equipment.

 

1 – 37 04 02 – 02 Technical Maintenance of Aircraft Equipment (Radioelectronic Equipment)

Qualification: Engineer

Graduates of this specialty are trained to work for:

  • enterprises, establishments and organizations engaged in the development, production, maintenance of aviation radioelectronic equipment;
  • design, research, installation, commissioning, repair, production, commercial and educational establishments.

Work objects of the specialist are:

  • aviation radioelectronic equipment;
  • technological processes providing maintenance, repair, adjustment and control of parameters of aviation radioelectronic equipment;
  • technological, design documentation for maintenance and repair of aviation radioelectronic equipment;

Graduates of this specialty are prepared to perform the following professional functions:

  • performance of works on technical maintenance of radioelectronic equipment;
  • performance of works on search and elimination of failures, malfunctions and defects in work of the equipment;
  • accounting and analysis of equipment failures;
  • implementation of measures to improve the reliability of equipment in accordance with applicable standards and regulations;
  • make adjustment, set up, check of and testing of equipment and systems in laboratory conditions and on-site;
  • technical maintenance of equipment, connection of devices, registration of necessary characteristics and parameters, processing of the results;
  • maintenance of maintenance and technical documentation, development of instructions;
  • justification of economic efficiency, introduction of new equipment and technologies, rationalization of proposals and inventions;
  • work on dismantling and disposal of decommissioned aircraft radioelectronic equipment.

1-44 01 05 «Traffic Management and Flight Servicing of the Aircraft (majors in) »

1 – 44 01 05 - 01 «Traffic Management and Flight Servicing of the Aircraft (Air Traffic Organization) ».

Qualification: Traffic Management Engineer

Graduates of this specialty are trained to work for:

- enterprises, establishments and organizations engaged in planning and coordinating the use of airspace;

- enterprises, establishments and organizations engaged in air traffic services.

Work objects of the specialist are:

  • a set of processes for planning and coordinating the use of airspace;
  • air traffic service processes.

Graduates of this specialty are prepared to perform the following professional functions:

  • using of modern electronic equipment and computer technology;
  • control air situation in accordance with the planned information received at the control center;
  • prevent collisions between aircrafts and between aircraft and ground obstacles during flights and on the airfield maneuvering area;
  • make proposals to improve the technology of controllers, the structure of airspace, aviation rules and procedures of air traffic;
  • ensure a high level of safety, efficiency and regularity of aircraft operations;
  • provide timely assistance to crews in special cases of flight in distress and in case of dangerous weather conditions of flight;
  • provide aircraft crews with the necessary information to ensure safe and efficient air traffic;
  •  notify relevant organizations of aircraft in need of assistance from search and rescue services and provide necessary assistance to such organizations;
  • provide air traffic services for international flights in the professional vocabulary of aviation English.

Courses structure and assessment methods

Undergraduate degrees in BSAA will be five years in length at undergraduate level and one or two at master’s level. Graduates receive a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree qualification upon completion of their studies. Teaching typically consists of lectures and seminars and undertake independent or group project work. Assessment is likely to be via a combination of written exams, presentations and research projects.
